ASIAGO & ROSEMARY BAGELS

I tried something new on Sunday-
Quite delicious and easy to give away.

Kitchen Sundays - Healthy Eats

Hello again!

It has been a few months since I have shared what has been going on in the kitchen.
Here are a couple simple recipes from months back.

Kitchen Sundays - Peanut Butter Cups

I've come across many recipes for peanut butter cups lately
so I decided to give them a go.
They weren't the prettiest,
but they sure were good to eat.
Not too sweet and the perfect amount of peanut butter.

Keep your chins up,
Spring will come.

Kitchen Sundays - An Easter Cake

Hello again & Happy Easter.

I hope everyone had a beautiful long weekend
with sweets & mashed potatoes and more importantly, loved ones.

Kitchen Sundays - Chocolate Butterscotch Pots de Crème

Hello!
After a couple weeks of being in San Francisco
it is nice to be home and back in the kitchen.
Perhaps I will share a few photos from our trip one day.
For now, here are photos of a delicious & creamy treat.

Kitchen Sundays - Toffee

Hello & Happy Holidays!

I've made a few treats this year-
this toffee being one of them (without the espresso).
It's been cold, but I'm finding ways to keep warm and I hope you are too!

Kitchen Sundays - Cinnamon & Sugar Almonds

I am back with the smallest post, but for good reason-
I have been busy cooking, baking, crafting and kind of slowing down.
I have been playing games, visiting, rolling pie crusts and crossing things off my lists.
I would love to have more time to photograph the things I have been making
but sometimes it's just rushed and I have discovered that I don't like rushing.

So here are some cinnamon and sugar almonds-
They only take an hour or so out of your day.
A great little addition to a gift for Christmas
or just put them on a table to share & to pick up when walking past.

Kitchen Sundays - Simple Buns

Another go at the bun recipe.

Kitchen Sundays - Basic White Bread

This morning I wanted to bake my Grandma's buns with my Aunty's twist-
Onions and parmesan.
And then I decided to bake a loaf of bread.
And then I wanted to make bacon and eggs.
It was one of those mornings where I took on a bit much
And planned too many things for the day.
And now I'm here, with my fresh baked bread-
Toasted with peanut butter and jam.

Kitchen Sundays - Lemon Ricotta Pancakes w/ Blueberry Sauce

Nothing beats my quiet weekend mornings in the kitchen
Searching for recipes for the day and the following week ahead
And using up what we have in the fridge (today it was ricotta & lemons)
I was reminded of the lemon ricotta pancakes we had in San Francisco earlier this year-
Flat & lemony with a side of "millionaires" bacon.

Kitchen Sundays - Pumpkin Muffins with Granola Topping

Good afternoon & Happy Thanksgiving!
Sometimes buying more than you need is okay-
One large can of pumpkin equals cinnamon rolls, pumpkin muffins and a little extra.
Using this recipe that I found on a whim.
The topping is crunchy and the muffins aren't too sweet.

Smelling pumpkin spices on a fall morning might be the best.
Or maybe eating warm muffins on a fall morning is.
Enjoy your evening with family & friends.

Kitchen Sundays - Joy the Baker's Simple Vanilla Cupcakes

Sometimes you need to find reasons to whip up cupcakes.
Joy the Baker's simple vanilla cupcakes are a new favorite-
Yellow cake with thick vanilla buttercream frosting.
I could eat one every single day!

Kitchen Sundays - Canned Tomatoes

Here are some photos from last weekends canning adventure.
Simple canned tomatoes.
Just a teaspoon of sugar & a little bit of salt.
I love these ruby jars full of summer.

Kitchen Sundays - Canned Peaches

Canned a few peaches this weekend with Grandma.
Nothing fancy, just classic sugar & water syrup
and ripe peaches from the west.

Kitchen Sundays - Strawberry Rhubarb Jam

Well, I did it!
Strawberry rhubarb jam, that is.
Next time I will slice up the rhubarb a bit smaller,
mix the sugar a bit more vigorously,
and not worry if it isn't going to turn out-because it will.
And even if it doesn't, that is okay.

Some people don't like the fruit pieces in jam,
but I have always loved it because that is how Grandma made it.
So I will enjoy this jam on toast & ice cream
and share it with friends and family, of course.

Kitchen Sundays - Salted Chocolate Chip Cookies

Is there anything better than cookies?
I just love them.
And these salted chocolate chip cookies are a new favorite.

Kitchen Sundays - Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp w/ Oatmeal Topping

Just another crisp.
Farmer's Market rhubarb
Strawberries from the fruit stand.
Crumble topping from here.

All is well!

Kitchen Sundays - Oven Roasted Potatoes with Dill

Today I made one of my favorite things for breakfast-oven roasted potatoes with fresh dill and a fried egg. Typically I would only get these potatoes when they were left over from supper.

I had 12 little red potatoes sitting in the fridge and it was just enough for two. I quartered them, rolled them in oil, ripped up some fresh dill from the farmer's market, a bit of salt & pepper and some butter (just because). 45 minutes or so in oven at 350 crisped them up perfectly. Add a fried egg with a nice yolk and breakfast is complete.

What's your favorite breakfast?

Kitchen Sundays - Saskatoon & Raspberry Crisp

This weekend was a pleasant one with berry picking in the morning and a fire in the evening.
It included family, little rest and good meals.
It was nice.

I made delicious crisps with some of the berries that were picked this weekend.
They were just the right amount of tart to balance with the sweet.

Homemade pie crusts, hand picked berries, and a sugary mix to top off the summery dessert.

I hope you had a lovely weekend.
Thank you for coming by.

Kitchen Sundays - Vanilla Ice Cream

Since it's been so hot I thought I'd share some melty photos of the vanilla ice cream that was made on a whim a few weeks ago. It wasn't frozen yet but it was still delish & creamy! We had it with a warm and saucey cake, but it is also good on it's own with a little bit of homemade jam.

I love using my ice cream maker and I hope to use it a few times this summer. There are too many perfect sounding ice creams floating around Pinterest lately such as this roasted peach and lavender, this roasted strawberry & coconut milk, and this honey and almond ice cream.

Although those flavors look and sound amazing, my summer staple this year has been cookies and cream. What's yours?
